Dental Implants

Dental Implants have become the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. They have been used for the past 40 years and have become the most predictable and successful way of replacing missing teeth. They help improve your appearance and function by looking, feeling and functioning like natural teeth. You will be able to eat smile and speak with confidence.

Dental implants can be used in three different ways:

  1. Dental Implant with a crown – one missing tooth
Here, a titanium screw (the implant) is placed in the bone. This is allowed knit into the bone over the next 3-6 months. When solid, the top of the implant is restored with a porcelain crown (the “tooth”). The procedure itself is done under local anaesthetic and is pain free. After the initial surgery, some discomfort can be expected for a few days. At no stage will you be without a tooth, we can have a temporary tooth in place the whole time the implant is integrating with the bone.

  2. Implant bridge – several missing teeth in a row.
Two or more implants are placed to support multiple prosthetic teeth. They can be used to restore the appearance and function of teeth. These restorations can completely eliminate the need for a partial denture.

  3. Implant dentures
Basically, this is where you use two or more implants to secure your removable denture in place. They virtually eliminate denture movement and the resultant discomfort and embarrassment.
